Chairman of the Webmaster's Union of Russian Council Alexei Dudinov about the new website of the organization
01.02.06
Dear friends!
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all who contributed to creating a new website of the Russian Webmasters Union. In the first place – a united professional team of the Webmastera.ru studio. At last our website has an original design, high-performance characteristics and a reliable visual system of content management.
The new site for us is a new phase in our work. It will help us implement large-scale projects both in Russia and internationally. We have got a good tool to accomplish our aims in developing Internet technologies in Russia.
Our website is a public place, which we will actively use to consolidate general public on the ideas of building a civil society, protecting democratic rights and freedoms.
Have you ever thought how urgent is now the task of developing non-commercial sector in the Internet in our country? Most experts agree that due to amendments in the Law on the Activity of Non-Commercial Organizations in effect from January 1, 2006, the separateness of the state and the public increased greatly.
Most public organizations that supported the state policy or treated it with respect, after being deprived of the possibility to obtain monetary means from foreign charitable funds and volunteer movements, gave up the last hope that the Government of the Russian Federation and legislative authorities can act for the benefit of the country. We have not yet learnt to live in a free country but we are already told that freedom is not acceptable to Russia! The public must not let the grass grow under feet waiting when the process becomes irreversible.
Our task is to team up and find a compromise solution. Yes, we need a strong state. But not at the expense of waiving democratic rights and freedoms. Russia has a huge potential for economic growth, but this potential can be realized only in a free democratic society oriented on integration in the world economic environment. Therefore, Russian legislation must be built on the basis of established standards of international law.
The Russian Webmasters Union appeals for the public to join forces to come up with cooperative legislative proposals, which will contribute to development of Internet technologies and building a civil society!
Our website will do its adequate bit for this honorable matter.
