III International Festival of Non-Commercial Internet Projects

02.02.06

The III International Festival of Non-Commercial Internet Projects started on December 19, 2005. The festival is held since 2003 by the Russian Webmasters Union with the support of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, executive bodies, large public and commercial organizations. More than 100,000 people from Russia and 16 countries took part in it during two years. The festival gave a ticket to life to many socially-significant Internet projects by making them available to broad audience.

The aim of the festival is to popularize information technologies, develop independent non-commercial sector of the Internet and support public initiatives.

Festival participants are individuals without age limitation, governmental and educational institutions, public associations that have non-commercial Internet projects.

Applications for participating in the contest will be accepted up to March 12, 2006. During this time thousands of people from Russia and other countries will keep watching festival events and results on the official website of the festival www.festival.webmastera.org.

Final arrangements of the festival traditionally took place in Moscow from March 20 to 26, 2006. Authors of the competitive projects took part in them. The intense program prepared by the organizers was bright and interesting. Participants were offered unique master-classes, workshops and trainings with leading Russian and foreign specialists in Internet technologies.

The climax of the festival was the on-line Internet-conference at the Federation Council “Internet – Censorship – Youth”. Participants discussed the issues relating to development of the Russian legislation in the field of Internet technologies and Russia’s integration in the global information community. The outcome of the conference was a number of specific proposals to the Government and Russia’s profile ministries on improving the legislative base.

When the conference was over, an official ceremony took place to award festival winners with diplomas and valuable prizes from the Russian Webmasters Union and partners of the contest.
